FAQ
Why Carnahan Chiropractic?
Dr. Carnahan strives to provide the highest quality, evidence-informed care to his patients. Every patient receives one-on-one treatment with a personalized treatment plan catered to help them alleviate their pain and learn how to self-manage their condition.
-
What should I expect on my initial visit? At your initial visit, Dr. Carnahan will perform a full orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic assessment as it pertains to your condition. Screenings of your active range of motion, underlying conditions, and daily habits will also be assessed. A treatment plan will be devised that consists of calisthenic-type body movements, light resistance training, and weight training in order to maximize your activities of daily living and relieve you of your pain. At your initial visit, be prepared to move, lift, and answer many questions about your condition. Loose-fitting and flexible gym clothing will be best to wear in order for Dr. Carnahan to examine you, as well as for your own comfort and benefit during treatment at all treatment episodes.

My old chiropractor just adjusted me - isn't that good enough?Without delving too deeply into the research - no, it isn't good enough. Good enough isn't sufficient, either. Dr. Carnahan implements modern research into his treatment plans so that each and every patient receives the upmost level of care for their condition. Attention is paid to your movement capabilities and patterns, strengths and weaknesses, and an individualized treatment plan is constructed. Treatment plans are focused on using rehabilitation exercise prescription in addition to chiropractic adjustments and treatments with the goal of decreasing your pain, improving your strength, and guiding you toward living a pain-free life.
-
What kind of chiropractic adjustments do you perform?Dr. Carnahan will adjust you beginning at your first visit if it is determined after the examination that adjustments will be beneficial for your condition. Dr. Carnahan implements traditional Diversified-technique HVLA (high-velocity, low-amplitude) adjustments, as well as utilizing flexion-distraction technique, which has been thoroughly researched to have positive effects and outcomes for many low-back pain conditions.

What made Dr. Carnahan want to become a chiropractor?Throughout his life, Dr. Carnahan has been an athlete, and therefore suffered many common athletic injuries. These injuries were successfully treated by a local chiropractic group (who he now happily considers his mentors as well as his colleagues). In his early 20's, Dr. Carnahan suffered from two herniated discs (L4/5 and L5/S1) that caused him debilitating pain. Upon receiving treatment from his chiropractic group, he truly recognized the benefit of chiropractic, and combined with his deep knowledge of human anatomy decided that chiropractic was the perfect profession for him to pursue in order to help others in need.
